The Deep Dive
A one-of-a-kind immersion into the wild landscapes of Namibia. The Deep Dive is a transformative 9-day journey designed to help you slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to yourself — through mindful exploration of the bush, powerful group experiences, and the creative lens of photography.
Here, far from the noise of everyday life, you are invited to tune in, reflect, and rediscover what truly matters.
8 nights/ 9 days
12 - 20 April 2026
It is a process. Not a product.
Connection with nature – through the senses, mindful practices, conscious walking, attention to wildlife, plants, sounds, textures, and deep immersion in the landscape. Creative exploration – using photography as a tool for awareness, presence, self-expression, and intuitive seeing. Deep group connection – sharing, reflection, and co-learning foster friendships and a sense of belonging that lasts beyond the trip. Spiritual and cosmic connection – facilitated by Herbert, through storytelling, rituals, deep presence, intuitive experiences with nature and wildlife, and perhaps even past-life work. Conversations may touch on the cosmos, astrology, and other non-rational, expansive themes. Playfulness and joy – laughter, humour, and lightness balance the depth and intensity of the experience. Transformational process – a build-up of experiences that gradually bring insight, pattern-breaking, letting go of limiting beliefs, and personal growth.
The Transformation
Discovering who you really are – peeling back external roles, expectations, and distractions. Finding silence, clarity, and answers – tuning in to your inner voice and intuition. Homecoming to yourself – a powerful reconnection with yourself, creating clarity, grounding, and a sense of returning to who you truly are. Breaking patterns and letting go of limiting beliefs – stepping out of old habits and mental/emotional blocks. Opening to new paths in life – embodying new aspects of yourself and possibilities for the future.
You won't be the same person on the other side
Living in the Deep Dive
Living fully in nature – in breathtaking locations in Namibia, moving between simple yet comfortable campsites. Living in the rhythm of nature: waking with the sun, sleeping with the sunset, no artificial light, only campfires and moonlight. Optional one-on-one support – dedicated times for personal reflection, coaching, or past-life healing for those who feel drawn to it. Safe, supportive container – held by Amber, Herbert, and the logistics team; honesty, clarity, and authenticity guide all interactions, including challenging moments.
Photography as a tool
Photography is the tool that allows you to connect and discover. Not to take "good photos," but to learn how to see. To broaden and sharpen your perspective on your life and the world. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to slow down. The camera helps you to stay in the moment, observe attentively, allow silence, feel what resonates. This is not a photography course. There is no performance, no assessment. The images that are created are secondary, what they open up in you is essential.
Guiding the Journey
Amber Van Gool
Host
Amber is the founder of Sielvol Afrika and the heart behind the journey. Together with Herbert, she is shaping this experience into a space where nature, transformation and human connection come together.
Her connection with this work is deeply personal. In 2018, Amber met Herbert and experienced her first nature immersion with him. That experience sparked a deep curiosity and opened the door to further exploring the power of nature immersion.
Since then, she has participated in several more immersions, continuing to explore the powerful effect that time in true wilderness can have on a person.
Over the years, these experiences shaped her belief in the power of Deep Dives.
Because Amber has experienced firsthand what time spent in real nature can do. Not just any nature, but rugged, untouched places — far away from everything, without Wi-Fi, without distractions. When you are there, everything you normally define yourself by slowly fades away: your job title, your social role, your possessions, the expectations of the outside world.
What remains is who you really are.
On the Deep Dive, Amber holds the space together with Herbert. As the host and founder, she ensures that the journey unfolds smoothly and that every participant feels safe, supported and seen throughout the experience.
Amber brings a warm and caring presence to the group. She is naturally bubbly, attentive and deeply committed to creating an atmosphere where people can relax into the journey and allow themselves to open up to what the experience may bring.
Together with Herbert, she guides the group through the process of slowing down, reconnecting with nature and rediscovering what truly matters.
Her guiding belief — and the way she moves through life — is:
The only way out is the way in.
Facilitator
Herbert Brauer
Herbert is a man who not only loves the wilderness, but is truly a part of it. He lived for years in the bush of Botswana and Zambia, where he worked as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker. For National Geographic and others, he captured the most beautiful moments of the animal kingdom. His documentary The Last Lioness is regarded worldwide as one of the most moving wildlife stories ever filmed.
But Herbert is more than a photographer. He is a deeply spiritual being, someone who feels profoundly connected to the natural world and to the cosmos. His way of seeing goes far beyond the lens. Through photography, he invites people to slow down, to truly look, and to reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
On the Deep Dive, Herbert uses creative photography as a tool for awareness, presence and transformation. It is not about taking the perfect picture, but about learning to see differently — with attention, curiosity and openness. Photography becomes a doorway back to yourself.
Anyone who meets Herbert quickly notices that he has no desire to be a ‘big name.’ He is deeply authentic and committed to transformation — both his own and that of the people around him. At times he may gently but firmly pull you out of your comfort zone, because he knows that real growth often lives exactly there.
His words are not always straightforward — at times they can feel elusive, as if they come from somewhere beyond the ordinary. Herbert is deeply connected to the cosmos, and when he speaks, you may find yourself drifting into his stories, sensing more than you fully understand. Yet he can laugh at the absurdity of things just as easily, and he is equally comfortable in silence — simply listening to the wind.
He knows the landscapes of Namibia like no one else, he grew up here, he lives here, and he has created several photographic projects in the very regions you will soon explore.
Throughout the journey, Herbert holds the space together with Amber. As photographer, spiritual coach and guide, he supports the group in moving deeper — into nature, into creativity, and into themselves.
Our partner EHRA (Elephant-Human Relations Aid)
Our Deep Dive experiences are made even more extraordinary through our partnership with EHRA.
EHRA is a sanctuary for elephants and wildlife, deeply committed to conservation, community, and creating meaningful connections between people and nature. Their work goes beyond protection — they foster understanding, respect, and harmony with the land and its magnificent creatures.
The spaces they offer are breathtaking, infused with an energy that is both powerful and gentle, and every visit is guided by people who live and breathe the values of care, patience, and deep awareness.
Partnering with EHRA allows our participants not only to witness the beauty and intelligence of elephants up close but also to feel the profound magic of a place where human presence and wild nature coexist in harmony. It is a connection you will carry with you long after the Deep Dive ends.
Day One - 12 April 2026Step into the Deep Dive
As you arrive at Walvis Bay Airport around 2 pm, where the journey begins, you are warmly welcomed by the Deep Dive team - Amber, Herbert and our fantastic logistical crew.
From the airport, we set off on a breathtaking drive through Namibia’s ever-changing landscapes — rocky desert plains, dramatic ridges, and vast, open skies.
Around 7pm, we arrive at our first campsite — simple yet breathtaking, perfectly immersed in nature. Here, we settle in, feel the rhythm of the land, and begin to leave the everyday behind.
The wide skies, the desert stillness, and the gentle sounds of nature invite us to start opening to the experience of the Deep Dive.
Day Two till Day Eight - 13 April till 19 April 2026Immersion and Transformation
From Day 2 onward, the Deep Dive unfolds fully. Each day is designed to move you deeper — into nature, into creativity, and into yourself.
The mornings may begin with conscious walks through breathtaking landscapes, where you notice wildlife, plants, and the smallest details of the environment around you. Photography becomes a tool for presence and self-expression, allowing you to see the world with curiosity and awareness.
Mindful exercises guide you into deeper states of reflection and connection. Herbert, Amber and the local guides share stories and reflections, connecting you not only to the land and its rhythms, but also to the cosmos, to intuition, and to each other.
You learn to read tracks, attune to the birds, and notice subtle signs in the natural world that normally go unnoticed. The local guides share their deep knowledge of the land, from the desert-adapted elephants to the plants, antilopes, and cultural traditions of the region. You discover how life survives and thrives in this harsh but breathtaking environment, gaining insights that go far beyond what can be seen at first glance.
Together, we set out to track and observe the desert-adapted elephants, following their signs across the landscape, learning from the guides’ stories and wisdom, and feeling the powerful presence of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
There is space for creativity, journaling, or simply sitting in silence — being fully present with the desert, the wind, and the sky. Group sharing and debriefs invite conversation and reflection, helping you learn from the experiences of others.
For those drawn to it, spiritual and intuitive exercises offer opportunities to go even deeper into awareness, insight, and transformation.
Day Nine - 20 April 2026Stepping Back, Moving Forward
In the early morning, the Deep Dive gently begins to close its circle. As the sun rises over the desert, we take our final moments in the stillness of the landscape.
After a last breakfast together, we pack up and begin the drive back to Walvis Bay Airport. The changing scenery passes by once more — rocky plains, shifting sands, and endless skies — carrying with it the memories and lessons of the past nine days.
We say goodbye — a farewell that is tender, reflective, and full of gratitude for the journey shared. Around 2 pm, we fly out, but with the understanding that this is not the end of the Deep Dive. It is the beginning of a new era — a way of seeing, being, and moving through life that continues long after we leave the desert behind.
